Our Story

Our story began on a beautiful San Diego beach, where fate brought Alain and Paulina together. Having recently moved to the city, Alain and his friends were eating tacos at a beachside taco shop after an exciting day at the Del Mar race track. At the same time, Paulina and her friends chose the same taco shop to celebrate her leaving for a study abroad program. Chance seemed to happen as they sat at the deserted bar next to each other, sparking a quick connection. Their conversation naturally moved toward their shared passion for travel and mutual experiences. Despite Paulina's having to leave in just three days, Alain couldn't resist inviting her to dinner before she left. Paulina agreed, leading to a beautiful four-hour dinner the following night.

In those early days, Alain showed his charm and thoughtfulness, even gifting her a journal to write her travel adventures. However, distance separated them after Paulina left. Yet, this didn't deter them, as they embraced modern technology to bridge the gap. Frequent Skype calls and heartfelt texts filled their days until Paulina returned to San Diego.

Their love story grew over nine years to a joyful marriage in 2020. Although they faced the challenge of infertility, they chose a different path to grow their family — adoption. Welcoming their daughter Isabella into their lives in 2022 was an unforgettable and deep moment.

Hopeful to extend their family through adoption, they look forward to the beautiful journey ahead. 

Home and Family

We bought our first home three years ago and have had the most fun fixing it up.

Paulina has always felt deeply connected to her home and enjoys creating a comfortable, inviting space for our family + visitors. We have a close-knit neighborhood where everyone knows each other and all the kids play together. We are in walking distance to the grocery store, coffee, and the rec center. There are 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and a high school all within a half-mile of our house. Our neighbors have young children, so there are always little ones outside playing ball, drawing with chalk, or playing dress up.

Favorite family traditions

• Dance parties while we make breakfast, using spatulas for microphones

• Visiting family in Texas every summer

• We each write down all the adventures we want to go on and put them in a jar. On New Years we pick 4 things out of the jar and plan those as our family trips for the year.
