Emily and Stephen

Emily and Stephen hope to adopt

Hello! We are Stephen and Emily!

We’re honored that you’re taking the time to get to know us. We cannot imagine the difficulties of the choices you are making, but we are thankful to have crossed your path. Though we don’t know you yet, we want you to know that we’re praying for you - for comfort, wisdom, and guidance.

Adoption has always been a part of our plan for our family. From early in our marriage, we planned that our family would include both biological and adopted children. Not being able to conceive for the past few years was never part of our original plan, but through it, God has taught us such sweet lessons of His goodness and faithfulness. As we now pursue adoption for our first child, we are filled with confidence in the Lord’s good plans for us, the child He brings into our home, and for you.

We hope that this may give you a small glimpse into who we are, and that this may be the start of a new journey that we can embark on together!

Our Story

We met 7 years ago after Emily’s sister and Stephen’s mom met and found out that they both had twenty-something Christian water engineers who both happened to be single, and they decided we had to meet. We dated long-distance for a while before getting engaged and planning our wedding for late March 2020. Then COVID happened and we had to cancel all our wedding plans a week before our planned wedding, and get married that weekend with only immediate family. The day after we got married, quarantine started. Though this was not the wedding or start to marriage we had planned, getting to start out our marriage by spending literally all day every day together for years has forged a bond between us that is stronger than if marriage had started out the way we had planned.

In our free time we enjoy taking our dog on walks around our neighborhood, climbing at our local rock climbing gym, cooking, and helping to lead our church’s youth group. We also love traveling and exploring new places.

Home and Family

The 4-bedroom house we live in was originally Emily’s grandparents’ house. It was the home that Emily’s mom grew up in, and Emily spent much of her time as a child visiting her grandparents in this home. It was completely renovated in 2021 right before we purchased it and brought it back into the family. This house is so special to us because of its history, and we look forward to carrying on the legacy of Family in it.

Our house is within a 10-minute drive of both of our parents, Emily’s older sister and her family, and one of Stephen’s sisters and her husband. One of Stephen’s other sisters and her family live in the Pacific Northwest, and his other sister and her husband live in a town a few hours from us. Everyone in our family is so excited to welcome a child into our family and surround them with love.

We have a 4-year-old poodle-terrier mutt named Wooster. He is the sweetest dog you could ever imagine. His favorite things are walks in our neighborhood, belly scratches, and curling up in his fluffy bed in front of our front window to watch the world go by.
