Danielle and Matt
Hi! We’re Danielle and Matt
It's nice to meet you. We're so grateful our journeys have crossed paths. With open hearts we'll do our best to offer our intentions, and share our hopes and dreams for the future. As we’re seeking to grow our family, we are excited to welcome a child that we will love and support unconditionally. That also means building a supportive space for you in our family, too. Throughout your child’s life, we want them to feel like they always have us in their corner, that we’ll answer any tough questions they may have with openness and honesty, and that we’ll help them achieve a bright future. With all of our love—yours included—we want your child to love and enjoy every moment of their journey throughout their lives.
About Us
We’re travelers, creatives, and movie lovers.
Fifteen years ago we met through an introduction from Danielle’s sister, briefly dated, and parted ways. Fast forward nine years: we reconnected, fell head over heels and have been creating a special life together that has brought us here to you today. We’re not parents yet, but we’re a proud auntie and uncle to six nieces and nephews that we love dearly. We have both lived all over the U.S. and currently call Austin, Texas home.
We eloped in Greece but due to the pandemic we had to be more patient than we had prepared for! Just as the world began to open back up, we knew it was finally time to go for it. On September 28, 2021 we married on a perfectly warm and breezy day on a beautiful rocky beach in the Cyclades Islands. It was just the two of us (cheered on by other travelers) and the salty sea air - which carried our vows, our wishes and hopes for the future, across the cliffs and into the deep blue water.
We believe in a world where we look out for one another and for this incredible place in the universe we call home. We value inclusivity and equality, and strive to make conscious decisions in our lives that are good for the planet and support a more equitable society where we all can thrive.
Home and Family
We have two family mottos: "Everything is figure-out-able" and "Do the best with what you have."
Home doesn’t only mean the city we’re in. For us, home is a vibe: music, a crackling fire, and something delicious baking in the oven. Our current neighborhood in Austin is well established with oak and magnolia trees lining the streets. It’s family-friendly with an elementary school at its heart with a playground. It’s the kind of spot where everyone decorates for holidays and lots of people go on walks every day (including us!). We love winter soltice because it's the day we reconnected and because we watch just about every Christmas movie ever made (even the bad ones).
We do our best to make our home as welcoming and comfy as possible with plants, pieces of art, flowers, and happy corners with pillows. You’ll always find us playing music we love on our record player, good smells from glowing candles, and a soft blanket always at arm’s length. We currently have two amazing cats—Remy and Camille—who like to sleep all day, play some games just before bed, and go right back to sleep in the evening.
Favorite Family Traditions
We celebrate Día de los Muertos by acknowledging friends and family who are no longer with us. We listen to a special music playlist, make a nice meal with foods they loved, and watch Pixar's Coco.
Throughout December we decorate the house with colorful lights, listen to Christmas music, trim our tree, and watch every Christmas movie imaginable!
On Christmas Eve we celebrate Jolabokaflod, which is an Icelandic tradition of giving each other books and special chocolate.
Interesting Facts About Us
We were once robbed by a raccoon! While celebrating a wedding on the coast of northern California, we were told to keep all the sliding doors shut because of raccoons. Our door was shut, but not locked, and we woke up in the night to raccoons rummaging through our things.
We both love the Bachelor(ette) and love how it prompts us to talk about relationships and finding clarity where we can. Plus the drama!
We're both former college athletes: Danielle played tennis and Matt played soccer.
We love pretty much all genres of music, from Tchaikovsky to Tribe Called Quest, from Bach to the Beatles.
In Closing
Whomever we adopt, we’ll share music, movies, and adventures near and far. We will love them unconditionally and do everything possible to keep them happy, healthy, and safe.
Should we all move forward together our paths will forever be intertwined. We will honor the very important role you have in our collective story and your child’s overall journey by sharing milestones with you along the way. We promise to give them the tools they need to go after whatever dreams they may have. We’ll make sure they see themselves reflected in books they read, the movies they see, and the spaces they inhabit.
We know that there will be unforeseen challenges that will show up along this journey, but as we always do, we’ll remember to do the best we can with what we have and we’ll take a beat, knowing that everything is figure-out-able.
